There is no longer a federal purchase grant in Germany in 2026 (the KsNI programme has ended). Support comes via operation and tax: €0 HGV toll until 30 June 2031 (around €35k/year on 100,000 tolled km), 75% special depreciation in the year of purchase until the end of 2027, vehicle tax exemption until 2035 and a THG credit (German GHG quota) worth €3–6k a year.
Zero-emission trucks pay no HGV toll. On 100,000 tolled km that's around €35k a year compared with Euro VI (34.8 ct/km). Legal basis: the 4th Act Amending Toll Regulations, passed at the end of 2025. What applies after 2031 is open – adjustable in the TCO calculator.
Special depreciation for electric vehicles bought between July 2025 and December 2027. On a €300k purchase price and a 30% tax rate, a liquidity advantage of roughly €50–60k in the year of purchase. Not a grant, but depreciation brought forward.
First registration by 31 December 2030: exempt for ten years, at the latest until 31 December 2035. A 40-tonne diesel pays €556/year.
Heavy e-trucks (N3) earn an annual credit via quota brokers. The amount fluctuates with the certificate market and is trending down – 2026 estimate: €3–6k/year. The calculator uses €4,000 as the default.
The federal programme “Climate Protection in Commercial Vehicles” (KsNI, up to 80% of the additional cost) has ended, with no successor in the budget. Check regional programmes (federal states, municipalities, SVG/BGL funding service) individually.
CO₂ toll since December 2023 (€200/t, 15.8 ct/km at 40 t). National CO₂ price €55/t in 2026, transition to EU emissions trading (ETS 2) from 2027 – diesel is getting predictably more expensive. Manufacturers must deliver −45% CO₂ EU-wide by 2030, −65% by 2035 and −90% by 2040: e-trucks are being pushed, new diesel prices are rising.
