The electric trucks you sell through truckoo

Through truckoo you sell battery-electric commercial vehicles of every weight class – from the light distribution truck to the long-haul tractor unit. Age, mileage and battery size rule out no vehicle; they determine which buyer bids. Unlike a sale to a single dealer, several buyers calculate at the same time here – in a young market without fixed price lists, that is the decisive difference.

  • Electric tractor units for long-haul and regional transport
  • Electric trucks with box, refrigerated box or flatbed body
  • Electric tippers and construction-site vehicles
  • Electric refuse vehicles and municipal vehicles
  • Light electric trucks for distribution work
  • Chassis with electric drive

Besides the body, what counts with an electric truck is the battery configuration: the number of battery packs, usable capacity and charging power determine the kind of operation a buyer can plan the vehicle for.

  • Mercedes-Benz eActros 300, 400 and 600 as well as eEconic
  • MAN eTGX, eTGS, eTGM and eTGL
  • Volvo FH, FM and FMX Electric as well as FL and FE Electric
  • Renault Trucks E-Tech T, C and D
  • Scania battery-electric P and R series
  • DAF XB, XD and XF Electric
  • Iveco S-eWay
  • FUSO eCanter

How the sale works

The sale consists of four steps: list, receive bids, accept a bid, hand over. Until you accept a bid you can cancel at any time at no cost – and even after that you pay nothing.

Step 1

List your vehicle

Photograph the registration certificate, enter the mileage, take six mandatory photos. The listing process guides you through each photo. Around ten minutes.

Step 2

Receive bids

Every bid is binding and valid for a fixed period. You see all bids side by side, not just the highest.

Step 3

Accept a bid

If none suits, you don’t sell – at no cost. Once accepted, there is no renegotiation.

Step 4

Handover and payment

Handover at a partner workshop or collection from your premises. Then payout by instant bank transfer. Deregistration can be added as an optional service (from 49 €).

Market value

What makes your electric truck valuable

With an electric truck, four factors above all determine the price: the health of the battery (State of Health), usable capacity and charging power, the remaining manufacturer's warranty, and the condition of vehicle and body. The used market for heavy electric trucks is young; there are no established residual value curves yet. That makes the price depend all the more on how many buyers are calculating at the same time.

Battery condition (State of Health)

The single most important factor with a used electric truck is the battery. Buyers ask about the State of Health, i.e. the remaining capacity relative to its condition when new. A current report from the manufacturer's diagnostics or a specialist workshop takes the biggest risk off the buyer and is reflected directly in the bid. Without proof, buyers calculate cautiously.

Capacity, range and charging power

The number of battery packs, usable capacity and maximum charging power decide which routes a buyer can plan the vehicle for. Manufacturers' range figures apply under ideal conditions; in everyday use the range is lower. Reliable consumption figures from your own operations are therefore a good selling point.

Warranty and service contracts

Many manufacturers give a separate warranty on the high-voltage battery. Whether and for how long it still runs, and whether it transfers to a new keeper, belongs in the listing. The same applies to maintenance and service contracts. A transferable remaining warranty lowers the buyer's risk and thus raises the price.

Body and equipment

As with a diesel, the body determines the sales market: refrigerated box bodies for food logistics, tippers for construction, refuse bodies for municipalities. With an electric truck there is the added question of whether auxiliary consumers such as a refrigeration unit or crane are powered electrically from the traction battery – for some buyers that is a prerequisite, for others irrelevant.

Documents and accessories

Registration certificate part I and part II, service book, roadworthiness test and safety inspection reports, battery report and warranty documents, as well as charging cables and accessories that belong to the vehicle. A depot charger, on the other hand, is part of your infrastructure, not of the vehicle – if it is to be sold along with it, clarify this separately before the sale.

Why listing prices say little about an electric truck

Used electric trucks have so far rarely been offered publicly. The few listings show dealers' selling prices, not purchase prices – and they say nothing about the battery condition of the individual vehicle. Between the listing price and what a dealer pays lie the same items as with a diesel:

  • Transport to the dealer
  • Financing costs per day in stock
  • Reconditioning and, where applicable, battery diagnostics
  • Dealer margin
  • Negotiating room

On top of that, two electric trucks of the same model and year of manufacture can be worth very different amounts if their batteries have aged differently. A price comparison based on listings therefore falls even shorter than with a diesel.

Even if the electric truck is not perfect

Condition rules out no vehicle. Electric trucks with a declining battery, accident damage or an expired warranty also find buyers – for example businesses that repair the battery and components themselves, or recyclers. What matters is that you state the condition in full when you create the listing, above all everything relating to the high-voltage battery.

Electric truck with accident damage

Electric trucks with accident damage are sold too. If the high-voltage battery is affected, or this cannot be ruled out, the vehicle needs special precautions for recovery and transport; state the damage in full for that reason.

Declining battery

An aged battery lowers the price but does not rule out a sale. What counts for buyers is whether the remaining capacity suits their operation – for short distribution routes it can be sufficient.

Subsidised vehicles

If the purchase was subsidised through a funding programme such as the KsNI, which has since ended, check the grant notice for a minimum holding period before the sale. The GHG quota (THG-Quote) can only be claimed once per vehicle and year; if you have already applied for it for the current year, it is used up for this year.

Leased or financed vehicle

An ongoing contract does not stand in the way of a sale. truckoo obtains the settlement amount from the bank or the leasing company and offsets it against the purchase price – you receive the difference.

Who bids on your electric truck

On truckoo, 1,500+ verified buyers – dealers and exporters from 35+ countries submit bids. Every buyer is checked for proof of trade registration, VAT identification number and solvency before being approved. You yourself have a contract with none of them – your contractual partner is truckoo.

With an electric truck, buyers' calculations differ more than with any other vehicle. For a business with its own depot charger and predictable routes, an electric truck with medium battery capacity is fully usable; for another it is not. One factors in the toll exemption in Germany until 30 June 2031, another the use in a market with its own subsidies. When several bid at the same time, you do not need to know who is currently paying more.

Frequently asked questions about selling an electric truck

What does it cost to sell an electric truck through truckoo?

For sellers, selling through truckoo is free of charge – completely and permanently. There is no listing fee, no brokerage commission and no deduction from the purchase price, not even when you accept a bid and actually sell.

What details do you need about my electric truck?

Manufacturer, model, first registration and mileage, the battery capacity and – if available – a current battery condition report (State of Health), maximum charging power and charging connector, the body, and the remaining term of the vehicle and battery warranties. On condition: accident history, fault messages from the high-voltage system and the general state of the cab and body.

Do I have to accept a bid?

No. You see every bid and decide freely. If you accept none, no costs arise and the vehicle stays yours. There is no deadline by which you have to decide – only the individual bids are time-limited.

Who is my contractual partner in the sale?

truckoo. The sales contract, the payment and the processing all run through truckoo, not through the dealer who bids. You have a single point of contact, even if something needs clarifying after the handover.

When do I get my money?

On the day of handover. As soon as the partner on site has confirmed that the vehicle, keys and documents have been handed over in full, truckoo pays out by instant bank transfer. You do not have to chase your money and you do not have to pay anything in advance.

Does the toll exemption pass to the buyer?

Yes, the exemption is tied to the vehicle, not to the keeper: zero-emission trucks pay no truck toll in Germany until 30 June 2031, even after a change of keeper. For buyers who operate the vehicle in Germany, this is part of the calculation.

List your electric truck and receive bids
