Which commercial vehicles can be sold through truckoo?

truckoo remarkets a wide range of commercial vehicles – from vans and classic trucks and tractor units to semi-trailers, trailers, buses as well as construction and agricultural machines. For each vehicle type, the right buyers are approached.

How does selling a commercial vehicle through truckoo work?

Selling a commercial vehicle through truckoo takes four steps: register the vehicle (online or at a partner workshop), reach suitable buyers, receive binding bids and hand over the vehicle once a bid has been accepted.

Process, contracts and payment in detail →
Step 1

Register the vehicle

Submit the vehicle data, current photos and your own asking price – online in a few minutes. Alternatively, drive to one of our more than 250 partner workshops, which will register the vehicle on site.

Find a partner workshop →
Step 2

Reach suitable buyers

truckoo makes the vehicle available to professional buyers for whom the vehicle type, configuration and condition are a match.

Step 3

Receive binding bids

Buyers submit binding offers. The seller decides for themselves whether a bid meets their expectations.

Step 4

Handover and payout

Contract, payment and processing run through truckoo. The purchase price is paid out when the vehicle is handed over.

Why do different commercial vehicles need different buyers?

The relevant buyer market depends heavily on vehicle type, body, age, mileage, equipment and intended use. A refrigerated truck is sought by different dealers than a tractor unit, a van or a tipper semi-trailer.

Vehicle type

Trucks, vans, tractor units, semi-trailers and special vehicles serve different purposes and buyer groups.

Body and configuration

Box body, refrigeration, tipper, flatbed, crane, curtainsider or special bodies change the possible use of a vehicle.

Age and use

First registration, mileage or operating hours and maintenance influence which buyers a vehicle is of interest to.

Equipment

Technical features and optional equipment can significantly influence demand from certain buyer groups.

The truckoo approach

That is why truckoo does not remarket commercial vehicles through a general listing, but takes each vehicle specifically to the professional buyers it suits.

What information is needed to sell a commercial vehicle?

For remarketing, truckoo needs the key vehicle data, the registration certificate, current photos and transparent information on equipment and condition. Depending on the vehicle type, further technical details are added.

Frequently asked questions about selling commercial vehicles

Answered briefly and concretely. You will find the specifics of individual vehicle types on the respective sales pages.

What does truckoo cost?

For sellers, truckoo is free of charge. There are no listing fees and no sales fees; valuation, marketing and processing are included – even when you accept a bid and sell.

Do I have to accept a bid?

No. You see all the bids side by side and decide freely. The sale only comes about once you accept a bid – and then it is binding, with no renegotiation at the handover.

Which vehicles can I sell?

Trucks, tractor units, vans, semi-trailers, trailers, buses, construction and agricultural machines – from the panel van to the four-axle tipper. Age, mileage and condition rule out no vehicle; they only determine which dealer bids.

Can I sell a vehicle without a valid roadworthiness test?

Yes. An expired roadworthiness test is no obstacle. You do not have to present the vehicle for testing or repair it; dealers factor the test into their bid and arrange the collection. More on selling without a roadworthiness test.

How do I get my money?

On the day of handover, by instant bank transfer from truckoo. As soon as the vehicle, keys and documents have been handed over in full, the payment is made. You pay nothing in advance and do not have to chase your money – your contractual partner is truckoo, not the dealer.

What documents do I need?

Registration certificate part I and part II, all keys, the most recent roadworthiness test report and – if available – the service book and repair invoices. If the vehicle is registered to a business, you also need proof of authority to represent it. You can book deregistration with truckoo as an additional service (49 €).

What does deregistration through truckoo cost?

Deregistration is an optional additional service and costs 49 € excl. VAT. If the toll OBU is to be removed as well, the package of OBU removal plus deregistration costs 149 € excl. VAT for vehicles built before 2015 and 179 € excl. VAT for vehicles from 2015 onwards. All prices are exclusive of value added tax. You receive the deregistration certificate from us; without booking the service, you deregister the vehicle yourself after the handover.

Are the buyers' bids binding?

Yes. Every bid is binding on the dealer for as long as it is valid. If you accept it, the sale comes about – with no renegotiation, no inspection proviso and no backing out. Until you accept, you yourself are bound by nothing.

Can I sell several vehicles at the same time?

Yes. Individual vehicles are listed one after the other. For larger holdings and fleets that are retired on a regular basis there is a dedicated process in which all buyer channels and vehicles are managed centrally – you can find out more under fleet sales.

What is the difference between truckoo and a listing on a vehicle portal?

With a listing, you put the vehicle online and wait for enquiries. You then negotiate price, inspection and processing individually with every interested party, and you never know whether the next caller would have offered more. Via truckoo, verified dealers submit binding bids that you see side by side and choose from. The contractual partner for payment and handover is truckoo, not the buyer.

Can I sell a commercial vehicle that has damage?

Yes. Accident damage, engine damage or an expired roadworthiness test are no bar – what matters is that the condition is stated in full in the vehicle details. Dealers and exporters factor the repair or the recovery of parts into their bid; you do not have to repair anything beforehand.

What does truckoo offer compared with selling to a local or regional dealer?

A dealer buys on their own account and resells. You get a price from someone who is at the same time your negotiating partner and who factors in their own margin — and you never find out what someone else would have paid. truckoo does not buy any vehicles itself. Instead, 1,500+ verified dealers from 35+ countries bid at the same time, including those outside your region for whom your vehicle is more interesting because of its body, axle configuration or emissions standard. You see the bids side by side and decide.

Isn't an auction platform the same as truckoo?

The difference lies in the outcome. In a classic auction there is a scheduled event, and at the end the price stands that the bidding produced — even if it is below your expectation. With truckoo there is no obligation to sell to the highest bid: you see the binding bids and decide at your leisure whether to accept one. If you accept none, you incur no costs.

Why not sell directly to an end customer?

A direct sale can achieve the highest price, but it takes time and carries risks: you conduct the viewings, check the buyer's ability to pay, and in the event of defects you are liable within the scope of what was agreed. Via truckoo you sell to commercial buyers who price in condition and retrofitting requirements. Payment and handover run through truckoo.

We regularly receive offers from traders and supra-regional trading platforms. What is the difference?

A trader quotes you a figure, not the calculation behind it. Whether transport, days in stock, reconditioning and margin are realistically factored into it cannot be verified from the outside — and you only have this one calculation to compare against. Then there is the contract: you conclude it directly with the buyer and bear the payment and processing risk yourself.

Via truckoo, dealers and exporters from 35+ countries bid in parallel, so it becomes visible which market values your vehicle highest. The contractual partner for payment and handover is truckoo — not the dealer who collects the vehicle.

We have a fleet. Does truckoo offer remarketing for larger stocks?

Yes. From three units to be sold onwards we work as a remarketing solution: your own dealer contacts, selected buyers and the truckoo buyer network run in one system, and the appropriate strategy can be chosen for each vehicle. Vehicle listing, marketing, contract and payout stay bundled in one place.

We are a leasing company. Can residual value marketing be handled this way?

Yes. Returned vehicles can be listed individually or in tranches, with your own dealer contacts or via the truckoo buyer network. Since truckoo is the contractual partner for payment and processing, you do not need individual contracts with the buyers.
