You list your van with its registration document and photos. Verified dealers and exporters then submit binding bids, and you decide whether to accept one. The purchase contract, payment and collection run through truckoo – not through the dealer. For you the sale is free of charge, even after you accept.
Through truckoo you sell vans from 2.8 to 7.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight: panel vans, flatbeds, refrigerated vans, crew cabs, box bodies and fitted-out workshop vehicles. Age, mileage and condition rule out no vehicle – they only determine which dealer bids.
Fit-outs belong in the listing: workshop fittings, a refrigeration unit or a tail lift change the circle of buyers – and with it the bid.
The sale consists of four steps: list, receive bids, accept a bid, hand over. Until you accept a bid you can cancel at any time at no cost – and even after that you pay nothing.
Photograph the registration certificate, enter the mileage, take six mandatory photos. The listing process guides you through each photo. Around ten minutes.
Every bid is binding and valid for a fixed period. You see all bids side by side, not just the highest.
If none suits, you don’t sell – at no cost. Once accepted, there is no renegotiation.
Handover at a partner workshop or collection from your premises. Then payout by instant bank transfer. Deregistration can be added as an optional service (from 49 €).
Four factors determine the price: demand in the export markets, the year of manufacture and mileage, the equipment and the condition of body and superstructure. Which of them weighs most depends on the model – on a seven-year-old Sprinter the export market decides, on a two-year-old Crafter the equipment.
Most used vans from Central Europe find a second life in Eastern Europe. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Volkswagen Crafter, Opel Movano and Peugeot Boxer are in strong demand there. Iveco and Renault tend to go to Spain, Italy and Greece – and, in younger year models with low mileage, to southern Europe as a whole. For you that means: a vehicle nobody in your part of Germany is interested in may well be in demand internationally.
Used vans are never in short supply, so buyers select on equipment. Air conditioning, a tow bar and decent engine power count as basic equipment. An automatic gearbox is a clear plus, as is a high, long body. If the tow bar is missing, that shrinks the pool of buyers by more than retrofitting one would cost.
Vans react to the economy faster than heavy trucks, because parcel services, the trades and construction are their main customers. When demand for consumer goods falls, so does demand for vans. Unlike trucks, however, there is hardly any scarcity in the van segment: volumes are high, the technology is simpler and production is stable. New model generations and manufacturer discounts regularly push used prices down.
Dealers factor reconditioning into their bid – smart repair for dents and scratches, cleaning, smaller repairs. They know these costs precisely, which is why a repair before the sale pays off only in the rarest of cases. What does pay off: clearing the vehicle out, having the service book and invoices to hand, and naming defects when you enter the details instead of concealing them. A defect that only comes to light at the handover costs more than one that was allowed for in the bid.
A price comparison on mobile.de, autoline or truckscout24 is a start, but not a value. What is quoted there are dealers' selling prices, not purchase prices. Five items lie in between:
With vans there is the added fact that the classifieds landscape is dominated by private sellers – their price expectations are almost always above what a commercial buyer can calculate. The difference with truckoo is not that these items disappear, but that several dealers calculate at the same time and you see the best result instead of a single one.
Condition rules out no vehicle. Dealers factor repair and reconditioning into their bid, and for vans with defects there are dedicated buyer groups – exporters to Eastern Europe, parts recyclers and workshops with their own repair capacity. What matters is that you state the condition in full when you create the listing.
An expired roadworthiness test is no obstacle. You do not have to present the van for testing or repair it – dealers factor the test in. For the transfer, the buyer arranges a temporary licence plate.
Vehicles that are not driveable also find buyers, often workshops with their own repair facilities or exporters. Describe the damage as precisely as possible; a known defect reduces the bid less than an unexpected one.
With vans, the condition counts for more than the odometer. A well-kept Sprinter with 400,000 km and a complete service book regularly fetches more than a neglected one with 200,000 km.
Accident-damaged vehicles are sold like any others. Enclose an expert report or repair invoices – documented repair work is an argument for a higher price, undisclosed repair work is a price risk.
Lettering does not have to be removed before the sale; the buyer takes care of removing the wrap. Mention it anyway, because a full wrap can leave marks on the paintwork underneath.
An ongoing contract does not stand in the way of a sale. truckoo obtains the settlement amount from the bank or the leasing company and offsets it against the purchase price – you receive the difference.
On truckoo, 1500+ verified dealers and exporters from 35+ countries submit bids. Every buyer is checked for proof of trade registration, VAT identification number and solvency before being approved. You yourself have a contract with none of them – your contractual partner is truckoo.
The difference from a classified ad is the number of calculations. With an advertisement one interested party calculates, and you negotiate against his figure. On truckoo several calculate at the same time, each with his own sales market, his own transport costs and his own workshop capacity. The dealer your vehicle suits best bids the most – and you do not need to know which one that is.
For sellers, selling through truckoo is free of charge – completely and permanently. There is no listing fee, no brokerage commission and no deduction from the purchase price, not even when you accept a bid and actually sell.
As a rule, a few working days after the vehicle details are complete. Complete means: the registration document, the mileage, all the required photos and the information on condition. Missing photos delay the bids far more than any defect on the vehicle.
No. You see every bid and decide freely. If you accept none, no costs arise and the vehicle stays yours. There is no deadline by which you have to decide – only the individual bids are time-limited.
truckoo. The sales contract, the payment and the processing all run through truckoo, not through the dealer who bids. You have a single point of contact, even if something needs clarifying after the handover.
On the day of handover. As soon as the partner on site has confirmed that the vehicle, keys and documents have been handed over in full, truckoo pays out by instant bank transfer. You do not have to chase your money and you do not have to pay anything in advance.
Either at one of more than 250 partner workshops in Germany or at your own location. For collection, truckoo coordinates the appointment with the haulier. If the vehicle is not driveable, it will be towed – that is already accounted for in the bid.
Yes. Individual vehicles and smaller holdings go through the same listing process. For larger holdings or recurring disposals, fleet sales is the right route – there, vehicles are marketed as a bundle and you get a dedicated contact person.
